Get a kick out of climbing the highest peak of North Africa! The walk to the summit is challenging but requires no moutaineering experience. The panoramic views on top make the hard work ... Starting in Marrakech the summit and return can be done in 3 days, speedy up. If you have more time take it ! With a 8 day trip you make a 6 day trekking through Berber valleys. In that way you acclimatize and you can enjoy the colorful High Atlas mountains and the hospitality and traditions of the Berber people. Each day you go over a higher pass which brings you to another colorful valley. The you and your body are ready to go to the summit. In summer going to the top is like a long walk up. Some parts in the beginning are steep. Technical not difficult and no mountaineering experience is required. You just bring your good walking booth, a good condition and a good spirit. In winter snow conditions make the use of crampons more safe to cross some icy parts early in the morning. Be prepared than for cold evenings as well when the sun is leaving. The mountain hut where you sleep your last night before the top is at 3200m. If needed crampons can be hired in the village of Imlil for about € 5,- per day.
