Special for Christmas: 12 day jeeptour through the great south of Morocco including 6 days walking (day walks) or rock climbing for specialists. Starting wednesday Dec. 28 from Marrakech and you will be back in Marrakech at saturday January 7. If you like you can stay extra nights in Marakech before or after the trip.
In this 12 day jeep tour you make a big roundtrip throughout the south east of Morocco where you have the canche to visit all the natural highlights of this area: the old kasbah village of Ait Benhaddou, the impressive rock formations of the gorges de Dades, gorge de Todra, and Imiter, the great sand dunes of the Sahara desert at Erg Chebbi etc. And because we are travelling by 4x4 jeep we will show you the nicest roads where you really get into the country. Additional there is time for some 'slow travel': in the program we have 2x 3 days of splendid day walking or rock climbing. In areas which we call some of the nicest spots on earth: around the Todra Gorge and the Gorges d'Imiter near Amellago. In this tour you have it all!
The jeeptour starts in Marrakech, the pearl of the south and this adventurous tour takes you even deeper into the south. Crossing the colorful High Atlas mountains, visiting old Kasbah en Skour alongside the old caravan road where the camels from Tombouctou to Fès passed by in earlier days. On the south and more dry side of the mountains there are some palm valleys and great, great canyons with impressive rock formations. At two special ‘spots on the road’ with huge mountain walls we will stay a couple of nights. A locale guide will take you for day walks to explore the beautiful nature just outside your hotel and Berber guesthouse. And ... if you are a specialist; these spots – Todra Gorge and Amellago - are ideal for rock climbing. The climbing routes are from 4a up. From the Todra Gorge we go deeper into the mountains to reach the Gorges d’Imiter and the tiny village of Ammelago. Here you stay in a traditional Berber guesthouse: “Bonjour le calme” with a very nice garden and nice views. In this rural mountain area you make more guided day walks. Nature will surprise you. And the atmosphere of the place you are staying as well: 'c'est vraiment le calme'.
As you do not want to miss the Sahara desert you have to go. Near the village of Merzouga you find the famous and huge sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. If you like you can make a camel trip and even sleep a night in a nomad camp. If you prefer a hotel room (with a swimming pool !) just aside the dunes, this is possible as well. Anyhow you should not stay too long in your bed as the sunset and the sunrise in the desert are amazing. With 1000 of stars when the moon is gone. This is something you do not want to miss. In 12 days you make a complete and magic tour. The return trip from the Sahara takes you through the much older mountains of the Anti Atlas. Passing by the desolate landscape near Tazzarine. Did you see the movie “Babel” ?. Your last night will be in the Tamnougalt oasis with date palms. The last day you pass Tizi-n-Tinififft (1660m) and the Tizi-n-Tichka (2260m) on your way back to Marrakech.
