Mountains in Morocco? Yes, there are several mountain ranges. The High Atlas mountains you will find in the middle of Morocco. Just south of the magical and royal city of Marrakech there is the highest summit: Jebel (mountain) Toubkal 4.167m./13.671ft.
Get a kick out of climbing the highest summit of North Africa.
In summer it's an easy going walking mountain. No specific mountaineering experience is needed. It is just walking; step by step. In winter be prepared for snow. Especially the last day to the summit. To have the nicest views on top you will start very early in the morning. On the frozen snow it is more save (and easy !!!) to walk with crampons. Crampons can be hired in Imlil. For your acclimatization trip; lower in the Berbervalleys - upto 2.000m. - it is just easy walking; most Berber villages are built just below the winter level for snow. During the day when the sun is shining even in winter it can be warm. And you might be walking in a T-shirt. But when the sun disappears: be prepared! In the evening and during the night it's getting much colder; especially in winter. Take your dow jacket if you have one!
